Emergency Roof Repairs
Across Hertfordshire & Essex
Storm damage, sudden leaks, missing tiles after high winds — call 07379 964569 and we'll make safe, weatherproof and stop further water damage as the priority.
Overview
When Your Roof Fails, Hours Matter
Roofs typically fail at the worst possible time — storms, overnight, weekends. Water entering the roof structure causes more damage every hour it's left untreated. Saturated insulation, rotting timber, ruined ceilings, electrical hazards. The cost of damage can run into thousands within a few days.
Our emergency roof repair service exists for exactly that situation. We trade seven days a week, prioritise active leaks above all planned work, and carry the materials needed to make a roof safe and weather-tight on the first visit. Permanent repair quoted properly afterwards, once the immediate risk is gone.
Why It Matters
Why Speed Matters After a Roof Fails
Once water enters a roof structure, it doesn't stop at the entry point. It tracks along battens, soaks into insulation, runs down rafters and emerges through ceilings — sometimes in rooms nowhere near the actual hole. Within 48 hours of significant water ingress you're typically looking at saturated loft insulation, stained ceilings, and the early stages of timber rot.
Wait a week and you add electrical safety risks (water near loft cables and downlights), plasterboard ceiling collapse, and significant redecoration costs. Wait a month and you're dealing with mould, structural timber damage and full ceiling replacement. Calling early — even just for a temporary make-safe — is the cheapest decision you can make.

Technical Detail
Storm Damage, Leaks and What to Do First
If water is currently entering your home: move belongings, lift loose carpet, and put a bowl under the drip. Don't go into the loft if there's any chance of water near electrics — turn power to that circuit off at the consumer unit instead. Call us before climbing on the roof yourself; falls from domestic roofs are one of the leading causes of serious DIY injury in the UK.
If tiles have come off in a storm: photograph the damage from ground level if safe to do so. Don't attempt to retrieve loose tiles from the roof — they're a serious hazard if dislodged again in subsequent winds. We carry replacement tiles in common sizes and can usually colour-match to existing roofs.
Most insurance policies cover storm damage but require evidence the damage is recent and weather-related. Our written reports with photographs are accepted by all major UK insurers and have helped many Hertfordshire homeowners through successful claims.
For non-emergency repairs see our standard roof repair service. For chimney damage specifically, see chimney repairs and repointing.
