Overview
Roofline Done Properly Saves You Thousands
The roofline is the most overlooked part of any UK home. Done badly, it's where 80% of damp problems start — water spilling over blocked gutters, soaking down brickwork, into eaves, behind fascias and into roof structures. Done properly, it protects everything beneath it for decades and never needs another thought.
We install full UPVC roofline systems from leading UK manufacturers — fascias, soffits, bargeboards, gutters and downpipes — with proper falls, secure fixings and clean, square mitres at corners. The kind of install you don't notice because it just works.

Why It Matters
Why Cheap Roofline Work Costs You Twice
Roofline is one of the easiest jobs to do badly. Brackets fixed too few or too far apart, gutter falls wrong (causing standing water and overflow at the back), corners mitred with mastic instead of proper joints, fascias screwed into rotten timber rather than replaced. Every one of these turns a 25-year install into a 5-year problem.
The downstream cost is significant: penetrating damp on external walls, rotted eaves and rafter feet, leaking soffits, water tracking into wall cavities and ceiling voids. Once damage starts, fixing it usually means stripping the roofline back off again — paying twice for what should have been done right the first time.

Technical Detail
Why UPVC Roofline Beats Painted Timber Every Time
Older UK properties typically have painted timber fascias and soffits — once the standard, now a serious maintenance liability. Timber requires repainting every 4–6 years to stay watertight, and once water gets behind the paint film the timber rots, the fascia drops, and the gutter follows it. Painted timber is the single biggest source of avoidable roofline failure we see in Hertfordshire.
Modern UPVC systems eliminate the maintenance cycle entirely. White, woodgrain, anthracite grey and black are the most popular finishes — colour-matched fascias, soffits, bargeboards and gutters available from all major UK manufacturers. UV-stable, won't rot, won't need painting, and typically carry 10–25 year manufacturer warranties.
For older properties in conservation areas (parts of Saffron Walden, Bishop's Stortford and Sawbridgeworth), traditional appearance can still matter. Modern UPVC profiles include heritage and woodgrain finishes that satisfy planning where painted timber would have been required previously.
