Renovations & Refurbishments
Renovations & Refurbishments
in Bishop's Stortford & Hertfordshire
Whole-house refurbishments, kitchens, bathrooms, structural alterations and finishing trades — coordinated under one project lead so you're not living in chaos for longer than you need to.
Overview
One Team, One Programme, One Accountable Contractor
Refurbishments are where most building projects go off the rails — multiple trades, sequencing dependencies, decisions deferred, scope drift. We deliver renovations as a single coordinated project with one programme, one project lead and one weekly schedule. You don't end up project-managing a plumber, an electrician, a kitchen fitter and a tiler from your phone.
Typical scope ranges from single-room transformations (full bathroom or kitchen refit including replacement of all services) through to whole-house refurbishments where every internal surface is replaced, services upgraded and structural alterations made. Landlord and probate property turnaround work is also a regular part of our load.

Why It Matters
Why Multi-Trade Renovations Drift on Cost and Time
Hire a separate kitchen fitter, electrician, plumber, plasterer, tiler and decorator and you become the project manager — chasing diaries, holding deposits, refereeing scheduling clashes, and absorbing every "I can't do my bit until they've done theirs." Most renovations that overrun do so because no single person owns the programme.
Booking trades individually also means you carry every interface risk. The plumber blames the tiler, the tiler blames the plasterer, and you pay twice. We eliminate the interface risk by carrying it ourselves — every trade is our responsibility, and the work between them is our responsibility too.

Technical Detail
Single-Room, Whole-House and Probate Refurbishments
Single-room refurbishments — typically full kitchen or bathroom refits — are our most common renovation scope. Strip out, services replaced (plumbing, electrics, ventilation), substrate prepared, new units fitted, tiling, finishing trades and decoration. Programme typically 3–6 weeks per room depending on complexity.
Whole-house refurbishments are common on properties recently purchased that need significant updating before the family moves in. Full electrical rewire, replumb, replaster, replacement kitchen and bathrooms, often with structural alterations (knocking through, opening plans, removing chimney breasts). Programme typically 12–20 weeks.
Probate and landlord turnaround work is a specific scope — quickly bringing a tired property back to lettable or saleable standard. Usually full repaint, new kitchen and bathroom, carpet replacement, electrical safety, gas safety, EPC improvement work. We turn these around quickly and to a defined budget.
Larger projects often combine renovation with structural work — see our extension service and loft conversion service. For specific finishing trades see plastering and rendering.
