We're not a sales operation with subcontractors. Jamie Pocock owns J&Co Contractors, attends every quote, and runs every project from first call to final invoice — across Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire and Essex.

The story behind J&Co

J&Co Builders Ltd was founded by Jamie Pocock after 20 years working across roofing and building trades — for other firms, on commercial sites and on referral-only domestic work. The thing he kept seeing was the same: customers handed off between estimators, project managers and subbies they'd never met, with nobody on the hook when things went wrong.

J&Co was built deliberately small so that doesn't happen. Jamie quotes the job, plans the job, and carries final responsibility for the job. The same site foremen run the same crews on every project, so quality stays consistent.

Who we help

Homeowners and landlords across Bishop's Stortford, Stansted Mountfitchet, Sawbridgeworth, Great Dunmow, Harlow, Saffron Walden and the wider Herts/Essex border. We work on properties from Victorian terraces through to new-build extensions and high-spec renovations.

What we specialise in

Two clear divisions: Roofing (flat roofs, repairs, emergency call-outs, guttering, chimneys) and Building & Construction (extensions, loft conversions, refurbishments, brickwork, plastering, patios, fencing). Both run by the same business, with the same standards.

Honest timelines and honest scope

If a roof can be repaired, we repair it. If a project will run 14 weeks not 10, we tell you on day one. We'd rather lose a quote than over-promise and underperform.
